Christina Kasnoff

Kasnoff Founder & Medical Aesthetician - a.k.a boss lady

I started my career in 1986 with a 3 year apprenticeship in advance pre and post medical skincare as well as chemical peeling for skin rejuvenation, and have a degree from the Pacific institute of Aromatherapy as well as a certification in Homeopathy.  I specialize in the most difficult skin conditions such as acne, pigmentation, scarring and melasma, and use a combination of Diamond Peel Microdermabrasion, Ultrasound, and Chemical techniques to restructure and transform the skin’s surface.  I believe in the ‘less is more’ approach, and teach my clients that rather than trying every new product ingredient that's trending, focus on individual skin concerns (like pigmentation from UV damage, aging/wrinkles, and oil production).

“ The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion, but cosmetics are easier to buy” - Yves Saint Laurent

I come from a long line of nurses. My mother was a nurse, my aunt was a nurse, my grandmother was a nurse; you get the picture.  I have fond memories of going to work with my mother on holidays, visiting the elderly patients, and readying them for visitors by picking lipsticks and rouge to help them look and feel their best.  I was transfixed. So when I told my mother I wanted to be a nurse, she sent me to beauty school.  Logical step, I know.  From the beginning of my career as a young aesthetician, I was determined to create my own products; ones that were beautiful both on the inside and out.  In the late 1980’s, I met and worked with Benefit co-owners, Jean and Jane Ford at their original “The Face Place”, where I became their lead aesthetician.  When I expressed my interest in creating skincare products, I was fortunate enough for them to send me to the Aromatherapy and Essential Oils for Skincare program at the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy in San Rafael, CA.  During the next year, I assisted in the creation of their four skincare blends sold in their stores (on Kearny, Chestnut, and Fillmore St. in San Francisco).  Needless to say, I was hooked and studied everything I could get my hands on about skin physiology, cosmetics chemistry, and home cosmetics making.

Once I was launched my private practice in 2004, I saw the need for better foundations, concealers, and powders that did not clog the skin and leave it dull and dehydrated. There were a handful of mineral cosmetics companies on the market, but none that I believed actually benefited the skin.  There sparked my plan to work with chemists to create my own line of mineral cosmetics that were good for the skin, easy to use, and looked beautiful on the counters of every woman's vanity.  The problem was, as a single mother with three year old twin boys, and a growing skincare clinic in Pacific Heights, I had no time!  Unfortunately, fate intervened. In 2008 I was diagnosed with a congenital brain abnormality called an Arterial Venous Malformation (AVM), which required emergency surgery to avoid a fatal brain hemorrhage.  Well, that certainly changed things!  Sadly, I had to close my skincare practice and dedicated the next year to recover and regroup with my closest loved ones.

But passion and determination are never lost for too long! Seven years after the dust of the surgery settled and my business was up off the ground again, I set back to work on my beloved cosmetics line.  Nearly a decade after concept, I have honed my brand Kasnoff Cosmetics to be only the essentials, no-nonsense, professional grade skincare and cosmetics line created for effortless beauty at any age.

I truly believe that your beauty routine should be the most rewarding experiences of the day; one that make you feel and look beautiful, matches your style, and provides all the nourishment your skin needs to thrive. I am so lucky to do what I do!

Kasnoff Operations Manager a.k.a the-right-hand-(wo)man

My experience in marketing project management makes me well-versed in multi-tasking and able to assist in all aspects of the business.  From helping to build the website, designing brochures and marketing materials, to spearheading social media and coordinating photoshoots, I help Christina do whatever it takes to bring the product line to fruition. I only hope I can inspire other women who are having issues with their skin (especially mothers going through those crazy hormones!) to have the courage and patience to take control and know that healthy skin is possible with the right treatments and products.

“Good skin is all about genetics and sunscreen. I gave you one, the other is up to you." - My ageless Mother

I met Christina in 2013 when I was looking for an affordable and effective facial close to my home in the Mission district. I have suffered from hormonal acne since the age of 10 (talk about being dealt a bad hand) and have a long history with aestheticians and dermatologists, so I knew that without my beloved microdermabrasion I would never be able to keep my skin woes in check.  Needless to say, once I met Christina we became fast friends. Not only has she helped revive my skin by teaching me easy, effective, and inexpensive ways to maintain my complexion in between facials, but she has helped me with the transition of motherhood and learning how to juggle work and home life. In 2015, I joined Christina on her quest to launch Kasnoff Skincare & Cosmetics to the public because I truly believe in her mission of simple, everyday beauty (and because I just can’t live without Kasnoff Tinted Primer!).
